People confuse minimum standard of living with distribution of wealth.

I think everyone can agree there are certain things everyone should have access to: food, clothing, housing, basic healthcare, etc.

However, as time has progressed, people want more and more to do less and less. Now people aruge television and cell phones and internet access should be "rights" instead of priveliges. And justifiably the people who work hard for those things resent others who want it provided to them.

Unfortunately (as the initial post describes), the majority of voters does not fall into the upper or even middle classes of society. That gives the ones who make less the ability to take away from the ones who make more without any say from the ones whose money is being taken away. It is a truly scary thought.
