It is a misuse of the words. Look them up in the dictionary authoritarian is rule by the government period. A dictator can claim to be in support of whoever they want to say they are in support of but it doesnt make it a leftwing anything it makes it a dictatorship. It is a term that has come into recent use and pervades the soundbytes and blogospheres you revel in.

I know that you wont understand this example either, but I wont use the word irregardless either just that so many maroons do use it and have gotten it added to the dictionary it doesn't make it proper nor does your goose step to the rightwing authoritarians who think for you in your use of the term leftwing authoritarian.

The expresion you are using has the same basis in validity, but regardless you will continue to use it. Saddam could have said he was pro whatever, the dictator in Hatii can claim to be pro whoever, Il from Korea can be pro peter pan, it is not a valid arguement or usage, relook at some of your old poli sci classes or even high school government if this is still escaping you. The government controls everything at whim, whimsy what have you this would be a position that is to the extreme right in those classes you failed or have misremembered.
