I (mostly) agree with Chase. But the education system is screwed.

My ex-husband and his entire family are school teachers, who actually care. Go figure. They are extremely unhappy every time standards are lowered so more students can pass. It is actually one way for school districts to be paid, by number of graduates.

Another is attendance.... My step-daughter couldn't read a dictionary, nor understand it, to save her life. But, she graduated high school without any problems.

My daughter on the other hand has a medical condition, known to the district, that has caused her to have low attendance. However, she has A's and B's, in all her classes, geometry and algebra even. She is still battling with them to keep her diploma because of her attendance, the grades are irrelevant. They get paid by the number of days she attends school. So, it doesn't matter what I, or the doctor, says. The district believes the absences give them cause to call her a "drop out".

Talk about messed up, eh? Yeah, that's the educational system we are saddled with.
