We need to stop giving tenure so easily to K-12 teachers. Teachers need to be able to fail kids, use red ink when correcting tests, standards need to stop being lowered just so a few more students can graduate and teachers' unions need to be crushed.

QFT.

Failure *must* be an option. Instead of defining success as getting every student on to the next level, success needs to be defined as the students being able to pass rigorous and meaningful tests of their knowledge and their ability to think. Not every student is going to be able to pass that. Get over it. Fuck you and your precious little Johnny who can't read because his teacher was mean to him (or whatever other lame-ass excuse you think is the reason Johnny can't read). When Johnny gets a job, sometimes his boss is going to be mean to him. He needs to learn how to deal with it and grow the fuck up. That's what school should be: learn some basic things about the world you live in and how it works, learn how to think for yourself, and learn how to grow the fuck up. Sometimes shit is hard. Sometimes it's too hard for you and someone else has to do it for you. You are not a failure because of that, you are just looking in the wrong place for your strengths.
