Throwing money at it is neither the problem nor the solution. How we look at it is the problem. NCLB is the biggest failure in the history of public education this side of "separate but equal". Assuming that nobody can be smarter than the stupidest person in the room is a very commie/pinko thing to think.

I suggest that we start leaving children behind. Left and fucking right. Sink or swim. Darwinism at work. You either get it or you don't. If you get it, you move on and have a chance at a decent life some day. If you don't get it, you start competing with the illegal immigrants for work that no educated person wants (flipping burgers, cleaning hotels, picking fruit). Although they'll probably work harder than you, and almost certainly speak more grammatically correct English (if they speak any at all).

Public education is a privilege that you EARN by demonstrating both a willingness and an aptitude to absorb it. It is not a right. If you don't want it, fine. You are exempted from child labor laws and free to join the workforce in whatever capacity you are capable of filling. Getting discipline problems and attitude problems out of the public schools will make life safer for the other students, and enable the teachers to do their jobs more effectively for those who actually care to be there.
