I've seen the first episode, and.... wow. And not in a good way. I've never rolled my eyes at a tv show so many times. I think 15 times and I'm only halfway through.

The casting is horrible. Richard has shaved eyebrows and Zach Ephron hair. I mean, come on. Really? The wizard may grow on me, but I only stuck around to see if I'd like him. He didn't impress me in form, but as I said, his personality may be okay at some point.

The common sense is lacking. The characters do stupid things which people in their situations just wouldn't. It's forced. A guy who can completely remove his tracks should be able to track a guy on some creeky old stairs. And why does everyone so quickly believe this "Midlander" over people who live in the region their whole life? I know, because I read the books which develop the storyline, but the show just doesn't.

The pacing is too fast. How everyone talks and acts reminds me of some Cliff's Notes version of the book. Yet 22 hours equals one book -- why are they racing through? They should take some time, let this story marinate a little.

The script covered every cliche there is. It sounded like a renaissance fair in a Family Guy episode. And the acting... the Witch-chick (I forget her name) would switch between Ye Olde Worlde American and valley girl. Richard acted like he was in The Hills. I thought I was going to hear the word Dude.

The music. Good god, the music. It was like a Muzac-Enya hybrid. I can deal with that, but at plot moments, the music would chime in. It reminded me of the sound effects in Dude Where's My Car?

I'm really disappointed in producer Sam Raimi -- my hometown boy. The good news is, the bar is set so low the Fire and Ice series coming on HBO can only get better.

I don't know if I'll watch another episode, or even finish the first.
