Graphics are underwhelming, combat is far from impressive and navigation of your character is the same as NWN. Overall it's not much of a step forward from
NWN which came out like 8 years ago. The storyline so far is good so far, but I am not that far in. Maybe the game gets better, but so far it's
disappointing.

My CE is being delivered today. I'm hoping my response is not the same as yours.

Let's hope it doesn't end with rocks falling on your head...

I've got it on PC, and tested it on the two consoles. PC is choppy at max settings, lower them a little and it runs pretty smoothly. PS3 has better
textures than the 360, but worse framerate. 360 has poor textures, but a solid framerate. PC also has top down view, consoles are over the shoulder (well, a
little behind, but OTS camera).
But agreed with Xeno *shock*, the PC graphics are meh for the resources used. |

Not very far into the game an NPC tried to give me a quest, but it requires additional content to be downloaded. I just bought the stupid game and they already
want me to pay for more content? Fracking EA money grubbing sons of bitches! Screw them!
The story is good and they do a good job with the interaction the NPCs in your party and their input into some of the conversations. As far as rocks falling on your head there have been several encounters that I have issues with starting with the ogre. Having your character grabbed and punched to death in a matter of seconds at the beginning of the encounter is just not fun i.e. on hard level you will have to run many combats over a dozen times in order to win. |

Was it Stone Warden that they tried to give you a quest for? There should be a free code for it in the box.

Graphics are amazing (flawless on my system on max settings - no lag at all). Story is great (I love the individual stories in the beginning that set up the character; and it's rather cool that female and male characters (in the same origin story) have slightly different outcomes (in some of the stories)). The game is amazingly fun. Disappointing is SO NOT the word I would use: Absolutely amazing comes to mind tho. And if you had bought the CE version like most people, you wouldn't have to pay for that crap - the $15.00 extra dollars for the CE version > the normal version + the quest stuff you can buy for $22.00. So far, this game is giving me great hope for TOR too. They did a great job. |

I'm interested in buying this game but like all single player games that have come out since EQ, I don't have the time to commit to them at the
expense of whatever MMO I am playing. I started playing EQ again last month on Mayong and right now I'm trying to play catchup with everyone who started
there in July.
I am considering getting my son an Xbox 360 or PS3 for Christmas. If I do get Dragon Age, would it be better to get the PC version or a console version? If console version, which of the two platforms would be best? |

If you like playing strategically, then PC. You get the birds eye view making it much easier to play strategically. If you just like bumbling into each fight
just to see what the outcome is, then console will be fine.

Maybe I missed it, but you can't play first-person like in EQ? |

I'm playing the PC version, and I'm really enjoying it so far. I think the graphics are great aside from one thing -- the lack of SpeedTree vegetation.
I actually find the trees in game a bit distracting because everything else is so well done. I am impressed with the range of motion on the faces -- I think
they are far more expressive than most of the faces seen in Oblivion and Fallout. The voice acting has also been very good so far.
Cerissa, it's a 3rd person perspective game -- I don't think there's a first person mode at all. I think that is advantageous though because managing a party in 1st person mode would get a bit confusing I think. I enjoy watching the combat a fair bit -- the only games I've enjoyed watching combat more in have been the Knights of the Old Republic games. There are some cool finishing moves and so forth that I've seen that make combat more interesting to watch. I'm looking forward to what the rest of the game has to offer -- the battle against the ogre was pretty crazy and I hope there are more encounters like that. |

Cerissa wrote: Not that I recall seeing. But it would be disasterous to play in first person. EDIT: The reason is because as Elhanna said; it would be way too confusing. Combat can be pretty tough as it is; you REALLY need to define AI strategies through their tactics options (like telling NPC's to heal themselves when they get below 25% health; or bashing casters - etc, etc...)

I haven't had a problem with playing strategically on ps3. It's pretty easy to see every enemy on the screen and switch through and tell people what to do if I need, although I've set up tactics to handle most of the healing.

Itchi, if you don't mind your kids covered in blood, in sexual situations, able to buy whores, overall mayhem and destruction, and human sacrifice!
Other than that you're good!

OK as I said I really liked the storyline, but the final fight to unit the people gets a really big FU for the Bioware writers. I won't go into it, but I
won and under no circumstances would I not have followed through with something, but then the game story made me lose. If they wanted a tougher encounter at
the end then they should have made one, but not the way they did it.
Oh and it's not kid's safe only if the player is not kid's safe. |

I'm having more and more fun in Dragon Age. Really starting to love it. I'm impressed with the character facial animations -- they are really able to
show a wide range of emotion and I've never seen emotion portrayed so well in a computer game. I'm also enjoying the humour in the game -- Alistair and
Morrigan are a hoot to have out. I just hope they don't end up trying to kill each other.
Alistair in particular makes me laugh. One time he was complaining about being ordered around and he said that if the King asked him to put on a dress and dance that he was going to draw a line. I said I'd like to see that, and Alistair responded, "For you, anything. But only if it's a really pretty dress." LOL. I don't laugh out loud to computer games very often but this is one case where I genuinely did. |
